Welcome!

Did you know that Örebro castle is older than Sweden? It is true, depending a little on how we count it. For over 700 years, royalty, tyrants, liberators, thieves and charlatans have left impressions and stories behind them in the castle. Come in and see for yourself! Take a guided tour, see an exhibition, play in the children’s tower or book the castle for your own personal event.

Wonderful memories for big and small

When the castle was built around 1300 it probably was not a great place for children. It probably didn’t improve much over the following 650 years either to be honest. But it is different now!

The castle is open all year round and the admission price always includes activities for children in the form of exciting adventures, games and other fun stuff for our young royals. During school holidays Örebro Castle has even more activities for children.

And we adults should also have our share of fun, yes? Exhibitions. Guided tours. Drop-in weddings. Historical dinners. Galas. Conferences. Parties. There is a whole lot going on at the castle. Check out what is happening right now and don’t miss the holiday ghost walks, witch walks or children’s challenge for the whole family.

Accessibility at Örebro Castle

Certain parts of the castle are still more accessible than others, but we are working on that. In order to make things as easy as possible, companions, assistants, interpreters or guide dogs are always welcome without charge. This applies only to guide dogs; our other four-legged friends must wait outside. Accessibility-adapted toilets are located outside the castle shop on the first floor of the south west tower and reached by lift.

Hard of hearing

Would your group like a tour in sign language? Contact us to pre-book a tour and get more information. At present the castle has no auditory loops or other technical equipment. Speaker vests and similar equipment are unfortunately hard to use because of the size of the rooms and their acoustics.

Prams

Due to evacuation procedures it is sadly not possible to bring prams into the castle. However, you may park your pram on the southern terrace, right outside the castle’s public entrance.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited throughout the castle.

Stairs and lifts

In the south west tower there is a lift that goes to the Castle Shop on floor 1, Örebro County Museum on floor 2 and the Church, State and County Halls on floor 3. Other public areas require one to take the stairs.

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking is available at the start of Kansligatan, circa 50 meters from our public entrance in the south west tower. Directions to carpark here!!
