Visits

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide locked storage. There is a small, unstaffed area on the 3rd floor where you can hang your outerwear. 

Absolutely not. Smoking is prohibited both inside and outside The Castle. The smoking ban applies to the entire castle grounds. 

No. Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the public areas of The Castle. However, dogs are warmly welcome at Lill-Annas . 

Assistance dogs and guide dogs are, of course, welcome to come along.

The castle's main entrance is located in the southwest tower, to the left of Lill-Annas .

With your admission ticket, you’ll have access to most of what’s happening at The Castle the day. There are various exhibitions, historic halls, fun activities for kids, and much more. 

You can purchase your admission ticket on-site at The Castle Shop, located one floor up in the entrance tower. Starting in mid-May 2026, you’ll also be able to purchase admission tickets through this website. 

No. The Castle Shop not The Castle Shop cash, but you can pay using both Swish and credit/debit cards. 

Yes, you The Castle an admission ticket to enter The Castle . With it, you’ll have access to everything The Castle has to offer The Castle the day: exhibitions, children’s activities, historic halls, and much more.

Of course, you can visit The Castle Shop Lill-Annas without purchasing an admission ticket. 

Oh, there’s so much to see and do at The Castle. For example, there’s always a wonderful castle shop with cute and fun items, and a cozy castle café full of treats.

Inside The Castle , you The Castle explore the historic halls and experience the castle atmosphere. There’s usually an exhibition to check out, and if you’re traveling with kids, the Children’s Tower is definitely a highlight. On weekends (and every day during peak season), you can join a historical tour of The Castle. Like everything else, it’s included in the admission ticket and makes your visit to the castle even more special.

It depends. During the summer and school breaks, The Castle is The Castle open every day. During the off-season, it’s usually open Thursday through Sunday.

The castle's elevator is located in the entrance tower, which is the southwest tower. The elevator takes you to three floors:

Level 1, home to The Castle Shop you can purchase admission tickets and more.

Floors 2 and 3, where you'll find exhibitions and historical galleries.

The other public areas at The Castle via stairs.

Guided tours

The historical screening of The Castle be made accessible.

The castle's ghost tour takes you through both the attic and the basement, and unfortunately, elevator access is not available there.

The ghost tours take place during the month of July and during the fall break week (week 44).

Are you a private group that wants to—and dares to—take a ghost tour at The Castle? If so, you can book a private tour for your group at any time of the year. 

Absolutely, you can book a guided tour for your group outside the castle’s regular opening hours. 

The guided tour of The Castle, which is included in the admission ticket, does not require advance booking. Simply sign up at The Castle Shop minutes before the tour begins.

From time to time, separate tickets are released for events such as ghost tours and sex history tours. These usually take place outside regular opening hours and are not included in the admission ticket.In that case, you’ll need to purchase your ticket in advance.

There are also several different tours available for those who wish to visit with their own group. Of course, you’ll need to book in advance—and you can easily do so here at orebroslott.se 

The historical tours of The Castle, which are included in the admission ticket, run year-round, though at different times.

During the summer, they may run several times a day; otherwise, they usually run on Saturdays and Sundays.

From time to time, separate tickets are released for events such as ghost tours and tours focusing on the history of sexuality. These tours usually take place outside the castle’s regular opening hours and are not included in the admission ticket. 

There are also several different tours available for those who would like to visit with their own group. Take a look at the menu here on the website and click on “Private Guide”—there you’ll find all the options available for booking. 

For the children

Yay! There are two party themes to choose from—Castle Party and Ghost Party. 

Laban makes appearances during peak season at The Castle, such as in July and during the fall break. In the summer of 2026, we’ll also be launching a fun children’s activity featuring Laban down in the cellar vaults. Stay tuned!

Children’s activities are included in the admission ticket. You can purchase it on-site at The Castle Shop via the “Buy Tickets” page here on orebroslott.se.

It certainly does. The Children's Tower is always open and full of fun and adventure. There's also always some kind of challenge for kids, with puzzles that lead to the castle's treasure chest.

During the summer and various school breaks, there are plenty of fun things to do with the little ones. The fall break, for example, is full of spooky fun and cozy moments, while Easter offers a fun egg hunt. 

Booking company/group

That's right. If you're a group of at least 15 people, you'll get the senior/student rate.

For businesses, card payments are the best option. Invoices work for larger amounts (in which case an invoice fee applies).

For municipalities and county councils, invoices are acceptable. Purchase orders are required for amounts over 500 kronor.

The castle’s impressive facilities offer a wide range of possibilities. Here, you can hold a day conference in the Eugensalongen or book halls for larger meetings or celebrations. 

Of course, you can also sign up for one of the many guided tours available for larger groups. 

Booking private person

As a private individual, you can pay by swish or card.

You may not bring your own food or drinks when renting a venue at The Castle. The Castle with select vendors. See more under "Private Events" here on the website, or contact us for more information.

Of course you can. The castle’s magnificent halls are perfect for celebrating life’s special moments. You can even book your wedding ceremony here, in the Engelbrekt Room. 

You don’t need to make a reservation to visit The Castle. You can choose whether to buy your admission ticket on-site at The Castle Shop through this website. 

From time to time, we release tickets for special events such as ghost tours and sex history tours. These events usually take place outside of regular opening hours and are not included in the general admission ticket. There are a limited number of spots available, and you must purchase your ticket in advance. You can easily do so here at orebroslott.se.

About The Castle

Actually, yes. Ever since the 18th century, the governor of Örebro County has resided in the official residence at Örebro Castle. Currently, Lena Rådström Baastad is the one living there. 

And of course, little ghost Laban lives here too. But he doesn't always dare to show himself… It's usually in the summer and during school breaks.

No one knows exactly how old The Castle , but it’s at least 700 years old.

Sometime in the early 1300s, a small stone house was built by the bridge over the river. This house eventually gained both a defensive tower and a surrounding wall—and became the foundation of the Castle see today.

No, Örebro Castle a museum. It’s a vibrant destination where you can discover new events and exhibitions all year round. It’s also a place brimming with fascinating stories from a bygone era.

Not all parts of The Castle open to the public. It houses both offices and serviced offices, as well as the governor’s residence, of course.
