About Örebro Castle
A Vasa castle. On an islet, in the middle of town. Of course, the people of Örebro are used to the handsome Vasa Castle, but visitors from near and far are usually very impressed. Easy to understand, right?
What's even more delightful is that the castle is really full of life and movement. Here you can visit exhibitions, go on guided tours or take the little ones to the Children's Tower for lots of play. Companies and individuals can hire the castle's halls for their own events and functions. And here you can meet the county governor who actually lives in the castle (the county governors have done so since the 18th century). In addition, there are both office hotels and other premises where a number of companies run their businesses.
It is worth knowing that Örebro Castle, like many other historic buildings, is managed by the National Property Board. SFV has in turn commissioned Örebrokompaniet to be responsible for the public parts of the castle and ensure that Örebro's most popular visitor destination is open and filled with interesting and attractive content.

700 years and a lot of history
Örebro Castle dates back to the 14th century and offers both royal history and lots of exciting stories. How about Engelbrekt, Gustav Vasa, Lasse-Maja and Jean Baptiste Bernadotte? And they are just a few of the many celebrities who have hung out at the castle over the years.
Here we scratch the surface and paint the castle's history with broad brushstrokes, but we promise - there is much more to discover.
