Accessibility at the castle

A castle that’s 700 years old presents some challenges when it comes to accessibility. But of course, there are solutions in place to make your visit easier.

Take a look here—and feel free to contact us if you need more information.

Before your visit

Parking There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities on Kansligatan, about 50 meters from the castle’s entrance tower.

Strollers Due to space constraints, strollers must be left in the stroller parking area on the lower level of the entrance tower. Need to borrow a lock? Just ask at the Castle Shop.

Hearing Assistance Unfortunately, the Palace does not have its own equipment. If you need hearing assistance during a guided tour, we will try to borrow equipment. It is important that you contact us well in advance, preferably a few weeks before your visit.

During your visit

Elevator The palace elevator is located in the entrance tower, which is the southwest tower. The elevator takes you to three floors: Level 1, where you’ll find the Palace Shop—where you can purchase admission tickets and more—as well as Levels 2 and 3, which house exhibitions and historic halls. The other public areas of the palace are accessible via stairs.

Restrooms are located in several places throughout the castle. You will find an accessible restroom near the Castle Shop on Level 1 and near the small coat check on Level 3.

Sign Language Tours The historical tour of the castle is occasionally conducted in sign language. Please contact us for more information and to make a reservation.

Hearing Loop There is a hearing loop in both the Rikssalen and the Länssalen. This means you can use the hearing loop when you attend a lecture, conference, or other event in either of these halls.

Service and guide dogs are, of course, welcome; other dogs (and other pets) must wait outside.
