The ghost town is back. For a whole week, the castle is filled with horror and fun. Lots of activities, inside and outside. For young and old children. And for adults.
From the basement vaults to the top of the towers, the castle offers excitement, atmosphere and ghosts. It’s cold and tricky. Dark secrets in dark rooms. Spooky and fun were the words.
Here you can find out more about everything that’s happening – and buy tickets for different activities. Some are free, others require a ticket.
And you! Don’t wait too long, places are limited and many of the activities tend to book up quickly.
Welcome to the Ghost Town at Örebro Castle.
A terrifying ghost walk that takes you through the castle’s sometimes really scary history. Along the dark path you will encounter both the one and the other … Nothing for cowards then. The ghost walk takes about an hour. This ghost walk is recommended for adults, but if you are over 13 and accompanied by an adult (and have the courage!) you are also welcome.
Join the exciting ghost walk through the dark history of the castle. The path is lined with chilling stories about our known and unknown ghosts – and who knows what else might turn up? The ghost walk takes about an hour. This ghost walk is recommended for ages 10-12 and up, but if you’re younger and extra brave, it’s great for you too. All children (up to 12 years old) go with an adult, who also needs a ticket.
Ghosts are always watching over the castle, but now it seems they’ve actually loosened up a bit. Or maybe it’s the other way around? The halls don’t look quite the same as they used to. The door to the deepest cellar vaults is unlocked. And the door to the attic is ajar. Do you dare to sneak around the castle?
For those of you who are brave, there is also a fun ghost cruise that winds its way through halls and corners. Through scary ghost stories and tricky challenges, you’ll learn more about the castle’s eerie history. And if you can solve all the puzzles, you can finally open the treasure chest. There, the reward awaits. This ticket also includes the castle’s current exhibitions Aquanauts and Dragons. It’s fine to buy a ticket on the spot. But if you have a pre-purchased ticket, you can jump the queue, right?
Cozy ghost story nights with secret celebrities. Just as exciting as the ghost story itself is to reveal who is telling it. Afterwards, you get to share a unique moment with the celebrity of the evening. There will also be time for photography and signing.
28/10 – On the first night, you’ll meet the duo who fit in perfectly at Spökstaden. There are also whispers of Melodifestivalen. Again.
29/10 – On this night, the ghost celebrity is a whole family that has tons of followers on Youtube.
30/10 – On the last night, you’ll meet part of a rock band that has been in a well-known music competition (starts with M and ends with ELLO).
Maybe you’ve already figured out who the celebrity is? Keep it a secret from the kids to make the ghost night experience even more exciting.
It’s cozy and a bit spooky when we read the book about Laban the Little Ghost in one of the castle’s old dungeons. Then there will be coffee and cozy hanging with Laban.
We’re filling the inner courtyard with music and happy children. Laban and his friends are inviting you to a ghost disco – and there will be lemonade and popcorn. Come along, this will be super fun! Spökdiskot is organized by Örebro Castle and City Örebro.
The nine giant skulls watch over the castle from Henry Allards Park. The colorful pattern of the skulls comes from the Mexican tradition of Día de los muertos (Day of the Dead).
The skulls are also the key to the creepy skull hunt. Om du lyckas hitta alla ledtrådarna och svara rätt på några kluriga frågor väntar en dö-cool belöning.
Materials and rewards can be picked up in the Castle Shop (on the opening night 25/10 in Henry Allard Park).
As darkness descends on the castle, the southern facade lights up with reinforced contours and uninvited visitors in the windows. And everyach hour and half hour the castle is brought to life by creepy ghosts and fiercea light and sound effects.
The light show will be paused during Friday night’s City of Light concert.
On Friday evening, November 1, it gets cozier. It’s time for this year’s City of Lights. Don’t miss out when Gladys del Pilar and around 300 people from Sjung with the Spångbergchoir light up the autumn darkness with beautiful tones and a lovely atmosphere.
Organizers: Sing with Spångberg, Study Association Bilda Svealand, the Church of Sweden in Örebro and Örebrokompaniet.
The concert starts at 17:30 on Östra terrassen/Kansligatan. Please note that the audience area is fenced off and that there is a bag ban.
