Do you have a cloakroom or lockers?

Unfortunately, we can't offer any locked storage. There's a small, unsupervised area on floor 3 where you can hang your outerwear. 

Is smoking allowed at the Castle?

Absolutely not. Smoking is prohibited both inside and outside the Castle. The smoking ban applies to the entire castle grounds. 

Can dogs come inside?

No. Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the public areas of the Castle. However, dogs are warmly welcome at Lill-Annas . 

Assistance and guide dogs are, of course, welcome to come along.

Where is The Castle's entrance?

The Castle's public entrance is in the southwest tower, to the left of Lill-Annas slottscafé. 

Where is the Castle located?

The Castle right in the heart of Örebro. The addressis Kansligatan 1. 

What's included in the admission ticket?

With your admission ticket, you’ll have access to most of what’s happening at the Castle the day. There are various types of exhibitions, historic halls, fun activities for kids, and much more. 

How do I buy an admission ticket?

You can buy your admission ticket on site at The Castle Shop, one flight up in the entrance tower. From mid-May 2026, you'll also be able to buy admission tickets through this website. 

Can I pay with cash?

No. The Castle Shop doesn't handle cash, but you can pay with both Swish and card. 

Is there an admission fee to visit the Castle?

Yes, to enter the Castle , you the Castle an admission ticket. With it, you’ll have access to everything the Castle has to offer the Castle the day: exhibitions, children’s activities, historic halls, and much more.

Of course, you can visit The Castle Shop and Lill-Annas slottscafé without buying an entrance ticket. 

What is there to do at the Castle?

Oh, there's so much to see and do at the Castle. For example, there's always a wonderful castle gift shop with cute and fun items, and a cozy castle café full of treats.

Inside the Castle , you the Castle explore the historic halls and experience the castle atmosphere. There’s usually an exhibition to check out, and if you have kids with you, the Children’s Tower is, of course, a real highlight. On weekends (and every day during peak season), you can join a historical tour the Castle. Like everything else, it’s included in the admission ticket and makes your visit to the castle even more special.

When is the Castle ?

It depends. During the summer and various school breaks, the Castle is the Castle open every day. During the off-season, it’s usually open Thursday through Sunday.

Is there a map showing how to get around inside the Castle?

You bet! You can find a map here on the website, and it's often available in printed format too. Just ask at The Castle Shop, and they'll help you out. 

Is there an elevator at the Castle?

The Castle's elevator is in the entrance tower, which is the southwest tower. You can use it to get to three different floors:

Level 1 has The Castle Shop, where you can buy entrance tickets and more.

Floors 2 and 3, where you'll find exhibitions and historic halls.

The other public areas at the Castle via stairs.

Guided tours

What's the accessibility like on The Castle's tours?

The historical tour of the Castle be adapted to meet accessibility needs.

The Castle's ghost walk goes through both the attic and the cellar, and unfortunately, elevator access isn't possible for those areas.

When are the ghost tours at the Castle?

The ghost walks take place during July and during the autumn break week (week 44).

Are you a private group that wants to—and dares to—go on a ghost tour of the Castle? If so, you can book a private tour just for your group at any time of the year. 

Can I book a guided tour the Castle closed?

Absolutely, you can book a guided tour your group outside the castle's regular opening hours. 

Do I need to make a reservation if I want to take a guided tour?

The historical tour of the Castle, which is included in the admission ticket, does not require advance booking. Just sign up at The Castle Shop minutes before it starts.

Every now and then, separate tickets are released for things like ghost walks and historical sexology tours. These usually happen outside regular opening hours and aren't included in the entrance ticket. In that case, you'll need to pre-purchase your ticket.

There are also several different tours for those who want to go with their own group. Of course, you'll need to book in advance – and you can easily do that right here on orebroslott.se. 

When are the historical tours of the Castle?

The historical tours of the Castle, which are included in the admission ticket, run year-round, though at different times.

During the summer, they might run several times a day, but otherwise, they're usually on Saturdays and Sundays.

What different guided tours are available?

Every now and then, separate tickets are released for things like ghost walks and historical sexology tours. These usually happen outside The Castle's regular opening hours and aren't included in the entrance ticket.

For the kids

Is it possible to have a children's party at the Castle?

Yes, hurray! There are two party themes to choose from – Castle Party and Ghost Party. 

When can you meet The Little Ghost Godfrey?

Godfrey an appearance during peak season at the Castle, such as in July and during fall break. In the summer of 2026, a fun children’s activity featuring Godfrey will also be launched Godfrey in the cellar vaults. Stay tuned!

How do you buy tickets for the children's activities?

Children's activities are included in your entrance ticket. You can buy it on site at The Castle Shop or through the 'Buy Ticket' page here on orebroslott.se.

Are there always children's activities at the Castle?

Yes, there is! The Children's Tower is always open and packed with play and adventure. Plus, there's always some kind of fun challenge for kids with puzzles that lead to The Castle's treasure chest.

During summer and various school holidays, there's always extra fun to be had with the little ones. The autumn break, for example, is full of spooky fun and cozy times, while Easter might offer a fun egg hunt. 

Company/Group bookings

Is there a discount if you want to visit the Castle a group?

You bet! If you're a group of at least 15 people, you'll get a senior/student discount.

Can I pay by invoice or requisition?

For companies, card payment is definitely the best. Invoicing works for higher amounts (though a billing fee will be added).

For municipalities and regional councils, invoicing is fine. Requisitions work for amounts over 500 SEK.

What can a company do at the Castle?

The Castle's impressive venues give you tons of possibilities. Here you can have a day conference in the Eugen Salon or book halls for larger meetings or celebrations. 

Of course, you can also book yourselves in for any of the various guided tours available for slightly larger groups.

How does payment work?

As an individual, you can pay with Swish or card.

Can I bring my own food when I rent a space at the Castle?

You may not bring your own food or drinks when renting a venue at the Castle. The Castle with select vendors. See more under “Private Events” here on the website, or contact us for more information.

Can I host a private event at the Castle?

Of course you can! The Castle's stately halls are perfect for celebrating life's big moments. You can even book your wedding ceremony here, in the Engelbrekt Room. 

Do I need to make a reservation for my visit to the Castle?

You don't need to make a reservation to visit the Castle. You can choose whether to buy your admission ticket on-site at The Castle Shop through this website.

About the Castle

Does anyone live at the Castle?

Yes, actually. Ever since the 1700s, the governor of Örebro County has lived in the official residence at Örebro Castle. Right now, Lena Rådström Baastad is the one living there. 

And, of course, The Little Ghost Godfrey livesGodfrey , too. But he doesn't always dare to show himself… It's usually in the summer and during school breaks.

How old is the Castle?

No one knows exactly how old the Castle , but it is at least 700 years old.

Sometime in the early 1300s, a small stone house was built by the bridge over the river. This house would eventually be equipped with both a defensive tower and a surrounding wall—and would become the foundation of the Castle see today.

Is the Castle museum?

No, Örebro Castle not a museum. It’s a vibrant destination where you can discover new events and exhibitions all year round. It’s also a place full of exciting stories from a bygone era.

Not all parts of the Castle open to the public. It houses both offices and serviced offices, as well as the governor’s residence, of course.
